Week 5 Power Rankings

This week we saw 5 three-game streaks come to an end. Brad, Pflanz, and Dan had their 3 winning streaks snapped while Andy and Perka notched their first wins of the season, breaking up their 3 game losing streaks. There is still a clear separation between the top 5 teams in this league and the rest of the field, but the gap has closed slightly due to some impressive (and record breaking) week 4 showings. Biggest jumps this week were Russ from 5th to 2nd and Keeves from 10th to 7th, biggest drops were Bryan from 7th to 10th and Richie from 9th to 12th, and with Dan's loss there is a new #1...

RANKINGS, MONDAY APRIL 29th

1. Mark (Last week's Rank: 3) - His third straight win puts him at #1 in the polls, with an impressive 16-4 offensive record, including an 8-0 stretch in runs and RBI's. An ERA over 4 is cause for concern, but his offense is so good right now it doesn't matter
2. Russ (5) - Back to #2 after a dominating win over another top 5 team, our league leader in homers also boasts a pleasantly surprising 15-4 record on defense.
3. Dan(1) - Out of the #1 slot for the first time all yer, Dan's team is showing more vulnerabilities than we thought in the pre season. Winless in the runs category, his pitching is carrying him, as he's 11-1 combined in ERA, Saves, and strikeouts.
4. Brad (2) - The hot start may have fizzled, but he's still 14-5 in offensive categories. His pitching on the other hand has been shaky, as he's last in strikeouts and has cobbled together just 11 wins through 4 weeks.
5. Pflanz (4) - A Sunday night Austin Jackson homer kept him from losing 8-1 this week. He leads the league in wins but didn't look sharp last week against the Commish, jury is still out on this team.
6. Greg (8) - A second win in a row and a sweep of the offensive categories against the defending champ puts Greg in the top half of the ranks. The offense is hot and Cespedes is off the DL, but the pitching needs work, just 5-14 this season on D.
7. Keeves (10) -  He broke the weekly K record and now he's looking to break into the upper ranks with the league's most strikeouts this season and the #1 ERA. He also has the #2 WHIP, but there's a crazy anomaly here. Despite having the #1 ERA and #2 WHIP, Keeves is a combined 1-7 in those categories. 1-7!!! Major proof that this team is better than it's record shows.
8. John (6) - What's going on with Johnny Baseball??? 0-8 combined in steals and batting average, and a combined 4-15 in offensive categories, and now Tulo may be hurt?? He also has just 9 saves through 4 weeks, this is championship hangover 101.
9. Eddie (11) - Finally on the board with an impressive 8-1 win over Brad, he's definitely on track to overcome his 0-3 start. His batting average stands at .287, the best in the league by 16 points!!
10. Bryan (7) - Three straight losses has him questioning his own drafting skills, as he's last in both home runs and steals (just 8 so far), posting an 0-8 mark in those categories. As we all knew it would, his pitching is keeping him from the basement as his league leading WHIP and minuscule ERA have him 8-0 in the ratios, despite going just 3-8 in the other pitching categories.
11. Andy (12) - His first win is just enough to pull him out of the basement, but this team still has a long way to go. He's still last in batting average, saves, ERA and WHIP and is just 2-18 on defense this year.
12. Richie (9) - He knew this would be an uphill battle, taking on that train wreck of a team was no easy task, although some are beginning to put his effort into question.Questionable benching of key starters combined with never shutting up about his other fantasy teams has no doubt contributed to the current losing streak.
