Let's Cast Some Votes

Good day Fantasy Baseball Franchisers. Have had a good first couple weeks, covid still around, but baseball activities are fairly normal and not too much has been missed. Certainly going to remain pesky for a little bit, but this is the world we live in now...

I wanna dive into our teams and some early surprises / disappointments / great performances, but first we need to settle some league specifics. Off we go...

1. League fee & Payout structure

Current system: $150 each - 1st place: $1000, 2nd place: $450, 3rd place: $200, 4th-6th place: $50.

I believe the suggestions are to raise the buy-in, and in doing so alter the payout structure to reward the regular season winners and then play for a little less money in the playoffs. So that we have a starting point, I'm just going to throw something out there and we can go from there...

Buy-In: $200 each.

Regular Season 1st place: $600, 2nd place: $350, 3rd place: $200, 4th place: $50, 5th place: $50, 6th place: $50

Playoff 1st place: $600, 2nd place: $350, 3rd place: $150

2. So, where's the bat?? I guess that, even though 2020 didn't count, we should get it to Mark. But wanted to also confirm that the person who finishes last is responsible for paying for the engraving. John, about how much does that cost?

3. Next up is saves + holds over saves. This one is a pretty straightforward vote and would go into effect beginning of next season.

4. Anybody wanna revisit no waiver adds on weekends? I think we put that in to stop aggressive pitcher streaming on weekends? Right?

5. Just so we have it all somewhere, I'm going to detail out Eddie's value keeper proposal:
- You have three players you keep like normal, same as now.
- The fourth keeper is kept at the round he was drafted last year. So, the first three rounds of the draft are keeper rounds, and if you drafted the fourth player you want to keep in the tenth round last year, your fourth round is a draft pick and not a keeper round, and your tenth round pick is your keeper round.
Things that get a little tricky...
- If you trade your fourth round pick (first draft round), one of your keepers has to be a value keeper. For instance, if this went into effect next year, you couldn't keep four players that were kept this year without having your fourth round pick.
- We have to assign a draft round to players that want to be kept but were not drafted the previous year.
- I believe a player can only be a value keeper for one year. If you want to keep them the following year, they have to be one of the first three keepers.
- I think that if the player you want to keep was the a 7th round draft pick, and you trade your 7th round pick, that's fine, he just needs to go up a round. So, he would be kept at your 6th round pick. I think that's easier than making sure everyone doesn't trade the pick attached to the player, especially because that would mean you needed to decide your keepers by the trade deadline which, is unrealistic.
- However, if you buy hard at the deadline and trade your 4th - 8th round draft picks, your fourth keeper would have to be a 9th rounder or later.
- Draft designation stays with the player through trades. So if you acquire a player in a trade you want to keep as your value keeper, whatever round the person who traded him to you drafted him in remains.

I think that's it for that... Eddie can add or subtract.
